Visit of President of Royal College of Radiologists to India

Dear Members,

Greetings from IRIA HQ!

When the President, IRIA Dr. Mohanan K. and Secretary General, IRIA Dr. Amarnath met with Dr. Nicola Strickland, President of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) in a leadership meeting during ECR 2018 at Vienna, she requested IRIA to get the service of Indian Radiologists to work in UK as they are facing acute shortage of Radiologists. In the leadership meeting, it was decided to collaborate with RCR on this matter and facilitate the program of RCR. In that meeting, it was also proposed to have FRCR Examination in India, which is under discussion as a part of mutual collaboration between IRIA and RCR.

We are glad to inform that as agreed during leadership meeting held with RCR at Vienna during ECR 2018, Dr. Nicola Strickland, President of the Royal College of Radiologists is visiting India and participate in a series of events across the country to explain the program that gives eligible Indian Radiologists an opportunity to apply to work in the UK and answer any questions.

This is further to inform you that the Apollo Radiology International (a unit of the Apollo Hospitals Group) coordinating for the program Dr. Nicola Strickland to facilitate a program that gives eligible Indian Radiologists an opportunity to apply to work in the UK for upto 3 years. In addition to gaining valuable experience and exposure to the practice of radiology in the UK, the members of IRIA will have opportunities to learn from experienced subspecialist radiologists working in multidisciplinary teams and participate in several professional development activities.

To be able to apply, members should be eligible for a grant of Registration with a License to Practice by the UK General Medical Council (for example through the PLAB test or by passing FRCR exams). Training and guidance for these exams will be available. Once selected for a post in the UK, this programme offers a unique feature where the Indian Radiologists will undergo one month residential training at Hyderabad in all practical aspects of working in the NHS and its Radiology Departments under the supervision of experienced consultants from the UK so that they’ll be ready to comfortably practice in their jobs from day one.

27/03/2018 - 4 to 6 PM - The Taj Krishna Hotel, Road, No.1 Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

28/03/2018 – 4 to 6 PM - The Sahara Star Hotel, Near Domestic Airport, Mumbai.

29/03/2018 – 4 to 6 PM - The Vivanta by Taj Ambassador, Sujan Singh Park, New Delhi.
